Ruthven Barracks Less than a mile from the house – fabulous for hide and seek as well as being a place of great historic interest!
Insh Marshes A peaceful woodland walk just over a mile from the house, overlooking extensive marshes full of all kinds of birds, with a stunning mountain backdrop.

Loch an Eilan – voted Britain’s favourite picnic place, a stunning loch complete with ruined castle that sends echoes back when you shout. A 3 mile walk or cycle takes you all the round the loch, which is only 16 miles from Kingussie.

Loch Laggan A beautiful, wide, sweeping sandy beach beside the famous “Monarch of the Glen” house – Ardverikie. The estate is private, but you can walk up the drive a wee bit and onto the beach – gorgeous! 20 miles.
