CHECK OUT OUR LIST OF LOCAL ACTIVITIES AND FAVOURITE PLACES FOR SOME GREAT IDEAS
The Post House - has a great playroom with toys, games, puzzles and books. There are 2 camping cots, 2 high chairs, a step for the bathroom and even a potty. With a stair gate a fire guard and a drawer full of plastic plates and beakers, we’ve got it covered! The courtyard is a large enclosed area ideal for children to potter about, and right next door there’s a large park just for running around.
Kingussie - there’s really good play park behind the Duke Hotel, which is also brilliant for tobogganing in winter. There is a Sports Centre and Library right across the road from the house – check there for details of classes/stories etc for children. Less than a mile away is Kingussie’s landmark Ruthven Barracks, the scene of many hilarious games of hide and seek for our family!
Newtonmore - 3 miles along a beautiful cycle/walking track is the Highland Folk Museum – which has free entry and a great play park as well as lots of activities in the summer.
Loch Insh – a beach to potter on, boats, fishing, cycling, skiing in winter, 2 play parks a restaurant and a shop – something for everyone, and a real beauty spot too.
Aviemore – for those wet days when children need to let off steam indoors you can’t beat the brilliant soft play centre and swimming pool with slides (plus sauna, steam, jacuzzi, beauty spa!) at The Macdonald Centre. There’s a cinema too, and another great outdoor play park.
Carrbridge – has a fabulous theme park called Landmark which is a really exciting day out for all ages – with a host of activities like water rides, climbing walls, tree top trails, play parks, and also a shop and restaurants.
